The Animist class is a magic-type class with wisdom-based and will-based spells, built around the idea of using the natural elements of the world, called Animas, to cast a wide variety of Anima-based spells. By wearing various pieces of equipment an Animist can gain access to the Animas found in those items in order to fuel his or her spells. Each Animist spell requires one or more Animas.

Animists start with a small selection of spells, but as they use those, they gain more and more Anima Experience, which leads to them gaining Anima Levels. At certain Anima Levels an Animist will gain access to more spells. Note that each Anima has a separate Anima Level, and most abilities require two or more Animas to be at a certain level to be learned.

  • There are six Animas in total: Beast, Flame, Water, Tree, Tone, Stone.

You can use the 'anima' command to learn what Animas your current equipment gives you, and 'anima <item name>' to learn about the Anima contained within an item in your inventory. You can use 'animalvs' to see what your current Anima Levels are.

Be warned that there is a cap to Anima Levels based on your job level.

Also note that you cannot gain Anima Experience outside of Animist, and you cannot gain Anima Experience if you are fighting enemies far weaker than yourself.

There is a shop in Elsendor that sells tools for Animists. Each tool takes an accessory slot and gives one anima. The shop is located: east, east, north, north, north of Center.
